Riaan Dhall Portfolio on Moonpreneur

Hi, I'm Riaan Dhall

Hello everyone! My name is Riaan, I am 9 years old, and I am excited to share two of my coding projects with you today. The first project is a Digital Dice, where I used Python coding and the random function to create a virtual dice that displays a different number each time a button is pressed. My second project is a Soil Moisture System for a moon garden, which continuously checks the soil and lets us know when the plants need water. Through these projects, I learned how coding can be used to create fun games as well as solve real-world problems. I hope you enjoy my presentation. Thank you for listening!

Dice

Hello everyone! My name is Riaan, I am 9 years old, and today I am excited to present my project. I created a digital dice using a micro and Python coding. When button A is pressed, the program uses the random function to choose a number between 1 and 6. Then, the micro displays a picture of a dice showing the number. I used “import random” to make the numbers unpredictable each time. This project helped me learn how randomness works in coding. I enjoyed making this project because it is fun, interactive, and similar to playing a real dice game.

Soil moisture sensor

Hello everyone! My name is Riaan, and I am in third grade. Today I am excited to present my project about a moon garden that needed help because it became very dry due to heat. My project uses a soil moisture system to check how much water the plants need. I used coding with a forever block so the system keeps checking the soil continuously. When the soil is too dry, it shows that the plants need water. This project helped me learn how technology can help take care of plants. I enjoyed building this project because it solves a real-life problem.

Snap the dot

I am presenting my project called Snap the Dot. In this game, the brighter dot is the player, and the dimmer dot is the ghost that you try to catch. I used the on start block to set the audio pin, create variables, and make sprites. I added movement, sound, and pauses to make the game smooth. When buttons are pressed, conditions are checked, the score changes, and sounds play. If the conditions are wrong, the game ends. This project helped me learn coding blocks, logic, and game design.
