About Nithya Krishnan
Nithya Krishnan is an education professional with a proven track record of connecting students with the best-fit universities and helping them navigate the college application process successfully. With over 12 years of experience in the field, she has worked with more than 150 students across the United States and abroad, demonstrating excellent organizational skills and a commitment to empowering diverse student populations throughout their college journeys. Currently serving as a part-time College Counselor with Empowerly since September 2020, Nithya partners with 60+ students from high schools all over the nation who have gained admission into a variety of universities, including all the UCs, Santa Clara University, Syracuse, Occidental, University of Oregon, Drexel, Rice, Boston College, MIT, Stanford, Princeton, and Columbia.?
Prior to her current role, Nithya served as a College Consultant with Zenith Tutoring from August 2016 to May 2019, where her expertise helped students from high schools all over the Bay Area gain admission into premier universities, including Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Columbia, Wellesley, MIT, UC Berkeley, UCLA, NYU, and the University of Washington. She monitors and tracks student progress, ensuring that all components of college applications are completed in a timely manner, maintains consistent communication with parents, tutors, and students, and reviews and edits essays, short answer questions, and resumes, tailoring language and content to highlight the strengths of each student.

Nithya brings a diverse professional background to her college counseling practice, having worked in development, fundraising, and project management roles at organizations including Art in Action, UC Berkeley, Genentech, The MasterCard Foundation, and the International Labour Office. Her experience includes fundraising over $200,000 for STEAM and Latin American Art curriculum development, managing a $30 million grant from the MasterCard Foundation to benefit the African Scholars Initiative at UC Berkeley, and leading crowdfunding initiatives that raised $1.3 million for need-based undergraduate scholarships. This combination of educational expertise and fundraising experience uniquely positions her to guide students through both the admissions process and financial aid considerations, ensuring families have comprehensive support throughout the college planning journey.
