The Kansas high school system has high academic performance standards. The state has over 400 high schools in 284 districts, serving about 480,000 students. In past years, the Kansas school system achieved an unprecedented 89.5% graduation rate. The most recent (2025) assessment cut scores better reflect what students are doing now and what they will do in real-world settings. Additionally, top high schools, such as Blue Valley North and Blue Valley High, will continue to excel academically. All of these factors contribute to the emphasis placed on equity and college readiness among the top high schools in Kansas, which are recognized for significant measurable growth, equitable achievements for all students, and national recognition of their performance.
