Kansas continues to be one of the best middle school states in 2025. The state best districts are located within suburban areas, such as Blue Valley. In addition, the state has implemented a comprehensive education plan for all students (i.e., a whole-child approach). According to the Nation Report Card, students in Kansas scored an average of 237 points on the Nation Report Card, and 76% of Kansas students scored at or above the basic level. These numbers demonstrate that the state has a record of providing good educational support for all students. The majority of schools that were ranked among the top-performing middle schools in Kansas have a student-teacher ratio ranging from 13:1 to 15:1, which allows them to provide personalized learning for their students. In Kansas, per-pupil spending has surpassed $17,650, which helps support STEAM, civic engagement, and individualized student learning plans, thus making Kansas one of the top middle school states in the nation.
