Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson is a certified school counselor based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with extensive experience supporting high school students through academic, social-emotional and college planning milestones. She has served as a school counselor in multiple states, including roles at Park Vista Community High School in Florida and Virginia Beach City Public Schools, giving her a broad perspective on different school systems and student needs. Her practice is grounded in strong relationship building, individualized guidance and clear communication with students and families.

Over the course of her career, Amy has designed and delivered comprehensive college counseling services, including curriculum for junior advisory groups, college application support and parent education programs. Her experience as an associate director of college counseling at independent schools, an associate and assistant director at Solomon Schechter School of Westchester and an independent educational consultant has equipped her to advise on every aspect of the college process, from course selection and testing to essays, college lists and financial aid. She has also coordinated major college fairs, led campus visit trips and maintained close working relationships with college admission professionals.

In addition to her college counseling expertise, Amy is deeply trained in student safety and wellness. She holds a degree in Guidance and Counseling K 12 and maintains certifications in child abuse prevention and awareness, DASA harassment, bullying, cyberbullying and discrimination prevention, as well as school violence prevention and intervention. Her work with students who have 504 plans and her focus on ensuring compliant delivery of accommodations reflect a strong commitment to supporting learning differences and access for all students.
