Colchester, Vermont, is a lakeside town with about 17,200 people living there. It is located on beautiful Lake Champlain in northwestern Vermont. The town has a friendly, suburban feel and a strong sense of community. It also has access to outdoor activities. Colchester Middle School is the main middle school in Colchester. It is part of the highly regarded Colchester School District, which consistently ranks in the top 20–30 percent of all Vermont public schools based on how well students do in math and reading. The school serves grades 6–8 and has a favorable student-teacher ratio of about 11:1. Its students do better in school than the state average. Programming focuses on core subjects like math, science, and language arts, as well as arts, sports, and extracurricular activities that are open to everyone. The student body is more diverse than at many other Vermont schools.
