Middle School Education in Pennsylvania has gained recognition for high-quality and innovative programs; therefore, many of the top-rated middle schools in Pennsylvania have grown out of Pennsylvania education system. Pennsylvania test scores (NAEP) in reading comprehension, mathematics, etc., consistently exceed the national average. Student-teacher ratios are closer to 14:1; thus, having fewer students requires greater emphasis on individualised instruction.
