Moanalua Middle School is a public middle school in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is in a big city. The school has about 788 students in grades 7–8 and a student–teacher ratio of 16:1, which is a little higher than the district average. There are 50 full-time equivalent teachers and 3 full-time school counselors on staff. They help students with both their academic and social-emotional needs. Half of the students are male and half are female. 27% of the students come from low-income families. Moanalua Middle School is very diverse, with most of its students coming from minority backgrounds. This is a reflection of the rich cultural mix in Honolulu. 54% of students score at or above proficiency in math, and 73% score at or above proficiency in reading. This shows that they are doing well, especially in English Language Arts. The school uses a standard middle school curriculum and focuses on helping students grow, stay interested, and get ready for high school. The school is in the residential Moanalua community, which means it has a lot of support from the community and a lot of people who care about it.

The Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) recently named Moanalua Middle School in Honolulu, Hawaii, a "School of Distinction" for 2025. This prestigious award shows how dedicated the school is to making the classroom a positive and supportive place for students to learn, where they feel supported, challenged, and inspired.
