The school serves students in grades 9 through 12 and has about 160 students enrolled. With a student-to-teacher ratio of about 13:1, the school can give each student individualized attention. 15% of the students are minorities, and 16% of the students are from low-income families. The school is one of the best in the country for helping students do well in school. Data from 2025 to 2026 shows that 39% of students are good at math and 49% are good at reading. South Prairie High School just finished a big building expansion that added ten new classrooms and a second gymnasium to make room for more student programs. The school's FFA chapter is celebrating a successful performance at the district leadership conference, where several students won top honors for their agricultural science projects. The athletic department is also hosting its first invitational tournament in the new facilities, giving regional athletes a modern place to compete.
