This is one of the specialized schools in the Red Clay Consolidated School District. It has about 950 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 15:1. It is known as one of the best schools in the state because it combines a tough academic program with professional arts training. The school has an amazing 79% participation rate in Advanced Placement classes, and 53% of the students are from minority groups. The Cab Calloway School of the Arts does very well in school, with 74% of students being able to read and 45% being able to do math. The school also helps students get ready for college by setting up tests for the SAT and ACT. It is one of the best schools in the area because of its lively school environment and good reputation in the community. Ultimately, the school is known for encouraging creativity and high academic standards, which makes sure that graduates are ready for a wide range of post-secondary options, and it is one of the best high school in Delaware.

The Delaware Association of School Administrators named Dean Anthony Gray-Bolden the Delaware Principal of the Year at the start of 2025. This was a big deal for the Cab Calloway School of the Arts. The school is still a center for unique cultural projects, such as the installation of "Grace," a collaborative masterwork made possible by the National Scrollathon initiative. Students also won many awards at the Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, which showed off their creative skills in a number of different art forms.
