Colorado boasts an outstanding high school system that has achieved unprecedented results, such as 85.6% of students completing their high school diplomas (the highest in the history of the state), an overall drop-out rate of only 1.6%, and a widely reported achievement level in reading and performance plan ratings among the 769 high schools of Colorado that serve more than 871,000 students. In addition, the quality of public education ranks 15 nationally, while many of the top-performing high schools in Colorado are also developing innovative pathways toward graduation and offering parents a growing array of educational choices. This is evident in some of the best high schools in the state, such as Liberty Common Charter School, where there is a clear focus on a rigorous academic program, helping prepare students for college, and providing students with a successful high school experience. Colorado also has some of the best middle schools.
