Ali‘iolani Elementary School is located at 1240 7th Avenue, Honolulu, in the Kaimuki-Palolo area of Honolulu. The school serves grades PK–5 and enrolls about 228 students, with a student–teacher ratio of about 13:1. Ali?iolani Elementary School announced that teacher Toby Mitchell was named to Curriculum Associates’ 2025 class of Extraordinary Educators. He was recognized for pioneering innovative classroom strategies that enhanced student learning. The school celebrated his accomplishment as a reflection of its commitment to strong instruction.

Ans. Students keep daily weather logs and search for patterns by comparing how often it rains in different weeks.
Q2. How does the school help students find descriptive sensory details in their writing early on?
Ans. Teachers underline words that are appealing to the eyes, ears, or hands so that students can see how writers make pictures in their minds.
Q3. What do students do to keep the shared cultural artifact bins organized during lessons?
Ans. Students respect the materials used in cultural studies by following the rules for handling them, taking turns, and putting things back in labeled trays.
Q4. How does Aliiolani make it easy to learn about how shadows change over time?
Ans. Students mark the ground where an object's shadow falls throughout the day to see how it changes direction.
Q5. How does the school help students learn about symbols in their communities?
Ans. Students look at pictures of flags, logos, or landmarks that represent their neighborhood and talk about what each one means.
