San Antonio, also known as "The Alamo City," is a modern, lively city that is the second most populous in Texas. It has a lot of history, having been shaped over three centuries by a unique mix of Mexican, Spanish, and German influences that can be seen in its architecture, arts, and famous Tex-Mex food. It was founded in 1718 as a Spanish colonial outpost. It is home to five 18th-century Spanish missions, including the historic Alamo and the UNESCO World Heritage site San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. The River Walk, Tower of the Americas, and top-notch theme parks are some of the most popular things to do. The city is also a major military center and is home to the Spurs, who have won the NBA championship five times. San Antonio is a cultural and business center that gets millions of visitors every year.
