The northern part of Lexington, Kentucky, is home to Edye Jones Hayes Middle School, which is at 800 East Loudon Avenue. The school is for students in grades 6–8. There are about 720 students enrolled. There is 15:1 students teacher ratio. The reading level is 64% and the math level is 61%. Half of the people are male and half are female. Hayes earned the highest possible "Blue" rating on the 2025 Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA), the only traditional middle school in Fayette County to do so. The school saw significant gains in all five tested content areas, with a 71% proficiency rate in reading and an 8% jump in math proficiency compared to the previous year.
