Alice Vail Middle School

The Tucson Unified School District runs Alice Vail Middle School, which is for students in grades 6–8. With about 570 students, the school has a student-teacher ratio of about 12:1, which is lower than the state average in Arizona. This means that students can get more one-on-one attention. About 19% of students are good at math and about 33% are good at reading on state tests. These numbers show that core academics are still areas that need work. Alice Vail has a lot of different academic programs, such as accelerated classes in math, language arts, science, and social studies. It also has a lot of music and arts programs. We use project-based learning and technology-infused instruction to get students interested and make learning more fun. The school is still working to help students improve their academic skills and get ready for success in high school and beyond.

Alice Vail Middle School launched a new Verizon Innovation Lab in 2025, providing students with advanced 3D printing and STEM tools; additionally, instructional coach Alicia Psenicka received the Stellar Coach Award for teacher support.
