The Alabama high school system is gaining attention for its successes, including reaching an all-time high of 91.6% graduation rate and having the lowest chronic absenteeism rate at 12.05% nationally. Of the approximately 910 high schools, Loveless Academic Magnet Program and the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science have emerged as two top academic programs in the state. With strong growth in fourth-grade math and reading scores and continuing to receive high Academic Growth scores, Alabama is engaged in refining college and career readiness pathways throughout the state. Collectively, through various measurement systems, these successes demonstrate that the best high schools in Alabama are achieving improved outcomes over time through innovative diploma options and effective interventions for their specific student populations.
