Steller Secondary School

Steller Secondary School is one of the best schools in Anchorage. It offers a unique public alternative education for students in grades 7–12. It is one of 21 high schools in the Anchorage School District and has about 300 students, with a student-to-teacher ratio of 15:1. The school is known for its self-directed learning philosophy, which means that students are in charge of their own education and the running of the school. 38% of all students are minorities. The school did very well in school for the 2025-2026 school year, with 51% of students doing well in math and 68% doing well in reading. Steller Secondary School is adding new Intensive courses for the 2025–2026 school year to support its student-led learning model. These classes will teach students a lot about some subjects.
