Recently the Major George S. Welch Elementary School community celebrated a big honor: the school was named a National Blue Ribbon School for last year. This award goes to schools that have a culture of caring, which includes students, and that gives strong academic and emotional support. Welch has also said he will keep helping families with military ties. The school is still in the Purple Star School Program for 2025.
