Connecticut consistently ranks in the higher tier among the states for the quality of its educational system, with over 387 high schools (258 public schools and 129 private schools) located throughout the state. Connecticut leads the country with an average ACT score of 26.5 and a postsecondary readiness rate of 47.2%. Connecticut has achieved strong results with its Advanced Placement (AP) program, as well as a significant increase in the number of students receiving dual credit opportunities. The average amount spent per pupil in the education system of Connecticut is $25,516. Connecticut also provides additional funding through targeted support programs for students who may not be meeting state standards in order to help them achieve success. Some of the most academically rigorous high schools in Connecticut include Connecticut IB Academy and Wilton High School.
