Connecticut commitment to providing each student with an exceptional middle school education and promoting academic success and equity in education is well known. The state has an estimated 508,000 students enrolled in 935 public schools and one of the highest funding rates per pupil at $22,054. Most of the best middle schools in Connecticut have low student-to-teacher ratios (approximately 10 to 13:1). These low student ratios make it easier to implement tailored educational programs. There are 250+ publicly accessible middle schools (publicly available), which have been recognized nationally (through national rankings of middle schools), and, based upon state assessment data, Connecticut continues to show improvement in literacy (English Language Arts) and mathematics.
