About Cardinal Elementary School

Cardinal Elementary School, a part of Arlington Public Schools, works with children from kindergarten to 5th grade. The school has around 550 to 600 students. We keep our student-teacher ratio at about 17:1, which allows us to support both academic rigor and individualized instruction. Cardinal Elementary, which opened in 2021, is among Virginia's initial net-zero energy schools. It employs sustainable design as a helpful, hands-on learning tool for its students. The school's academic results in reading and math rank it among the top elementary schools in the Commonwealth.

The student body has an approximately equal split, with about 50% male and 50% female students. Families see several benefits from an active PTA, after-school programs, and shared spaces. Parents often comment positively on the school's welcoming culture. They mention our modern facilities and the good communication they receive from our staff. Homes in nearby Arlington neighborhoods typically range from $900,000 to $1.6 million, helping many families stay for the long term. With sustainability, strong academics, and community engagement as its central values. This school is the best school in Virginia.
