Nature is the best healer. The presence of natural elements in our lifestyle can help us stay healthier. Perhaps, this awareness is motivating more and more parents to opt for a copper water bottle for their kids. The pure copper water bottles benefits are plenty.

    Ayurveda and copper water bottle

Ayurveda is an Indian medical system, which relies on the natural and holistic approach to physical and mental health. In the Indian subcontinent, they extensively used copper utensils for cooking and storing food and water from ancient times.

Those who follow Ayurveda, know it recommends storing drinking water in copper vessels. Water stored in copper vessels or dispensers serves as a natural oxidant and boosts the immune system. Ayurveda says, if you drink copper-enriched water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, it helps in balancing your metabolic processes.

What does copper do for the human body?

Copper is a trace element, and it plays an important role in the human body such as making red blood cells, maintaining the nervous and immune systems, activating genes, protecting cells from damage, and so forth. Copper also aids in iron absorption, forming connective tissues, and helps in the production of melanin in our skin.

Copper is an essential nutrient that is widely distributed in food and water. In 1980, the National Research Council set the estimated safe and adequate daily dietary intake at 0.5 to 1.0 mg/day for infants, 1.0 to 2.5 mg/day for children, and 2.0 to 3.0 mg/day for those over 11 years of age.

There is a lot of awareness about the use of copper containers. From using large vessels to store water at home to a pure copper water bottle – the demand for copper utensils made of 100% pure copper has gone manifold in recent times.

Let’s see how gifting a copper bottle to your kid can help in a healthy body and mind.

    1. Boosts brain efficiency

According to Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory neurons and glial cells in the brain both require copper for the basic respiratory and antioxidant enzymes cytochrome c oxidase and superoxide dismutase.

Also, copper is necessary for brain-specific enzymes that control neurotransmitters, such as dopamine, as well as neuropeptides and dietary amines. Disruption of copper oxidation in the brain can lead to neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Menkes, and Wilson’s.

    2. Fights off cancer

According to the National Library of Medicine, free radical damage contributes to the cause of many chronic health problems such as cardiovascular and inflammatory disease, cataracts, and cancer.

Copper is an antioxidant that helps in fighting off all the free radicals. A lot of research is going on in this field and an interdisciplinary group of scientists combined immunotherapy with copper-based nanoparticles to find the cure for cancer.

“We noticed that the copper compounds not only could kill the tumor cells directly, they also could assist those cells in the immune system that fight foreign substances, like tumors,” Medical News Today quoted Dr. Bella B. Manshian from the Department of Imaging and Pathology at KU Leuven as saying.

Copper also helps in the production of melanin, which gives color to one’s skin and eyes and protects one from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

    3. Keeps digestion system healthy

Storing water in a copper vessel or copper water bottle, and drinking it on an empty stomach in the morning, works as a detox drink.

Ayurveda medicine prescribes pure copper bottle water to detoxify and cleanse the stomach. Consumption of copper bottle water improves our digestion system and also helps in curing stomach ulcers and stomach infections.

    4. Prevents anemia

Copper plays an active role in absorbing iron from the gut. It helps in the breaking down of food to make hemoglobin. So, if the copper levels are low in the human body, the system cannot absorb the right level of iron, which will lead to iron deficiency anemia, reportedly the most common nutritional deficiency worldwide.

In this condition, the body cannot carry enough oxygen to its tissues and a lack of oxygen weakens you and makes you feel tired more easily.

    5. Helps in weight loss and faster healing of wounds

Copper dissolves the excess fat deposits in the human body and thus helps reduce weight. A study conducted by scientists at Berkeley Lab and the University of California confirms it. Their findings reveal that copper plays a key role in metabolizing fat. The researchers say that copper is essential for breaking down fat cells so that we can use them for energy. Even when we are resting or sleeping, copper keeps the body in a fat-burning situation.

Also, copper has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. It also strengthens the immune system which plays a meaningful role in healing wounds faster.

A small amount of copper in our body does wonders to our health system. Apart from the above, it also prevents stroke: controls aging, and helps in curing arthritis and inflamed Joints. Therefore, we must encourage our children to use a copper water bottle to store water. Thanks to the awareness, now copper water bottle have started coming in attractive designs.

For instance, Moonpreneur alumna, Sania Jain, had designed theme-based copper bottles to lure children into healthier lifestyles. Apart from providing health benefits, the themes on the bottles create awareness about our ecosystem and why we should adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle.

These bottles can be carried easily by your child in the bag side pockets to school or during their travel or picnics.

Off and on we hear about the benefits of the copper water bottle. What I enjoyed the most about this article is that it cautions us about the intake of copper. A balanced article that talks about both pros and cons.

Great article! Too much of anything can be harmful eventually. Ive been using copper for years, from drinking from it every morning on a empty stomach to wearing bracelets and chains. Our ancestors used copper for a reason, the main reason was for its natural anti microbial properties.

What I particularly expect from this article is about caution regarding copper intake. It presents a well-rounded perspective, discussing both the positive and negative aspects.

Certainly, you can boil water from a copper vessel. However, it’s essential to note that you should not boil it in the same copper vessel used for storage, as this could elevate the copper content.

    1. Check for a distinctive red-orange color.
    2. Test the bottle’s reaction to a magnet.
    3. Measure its properties using a multimeter.
    4. Calculate the density of the material.
    5. Tap the surface to assess the resulting sound.
    6. Examine for the presence of blue-green spots.
    7. Feel the bottle for any dents or irregularities.
    8. Search for a numeric code as a potential indicator of authenticity.
