Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, is an affluent Charleston suburb of approximately 96,000 residents, known for strong household incomes (~$121,000 median) and low poverty (~5.8 %). Its public schools—including Wando High, Oceanside Collegiate Academy, and Charles Pinckney Elementary—rank among the best in the state, with combined math and reading proficiency averaging 77–80 %, far above South Carolina’s averages of ~41 % and ~52 % respectively.
