Down in St. Joseph County near the Indiana border, Sturgis sits about 45 miles south of Kalamazoo along U.S. 12. It's a blue-collar town of roughly 11,000 where manufacturing—especially plastics, auto parts, and wood products—still drives the local economy. Most families send their kids to Sturgis Public Schools, starting out at elementary campuses like Eastwood or Wall.
