Garden City sits in central Wayne County, roughly 18 miles west of downtown Detroit. About 27,000 residents live in this mid-century suburb, which was originally planned with deep lots so families could grow their own produce. Today, Garden City Public Schools serves the town, with younger kids attending elementary buildings like Memorial, Lathers, or Douglas.
