San Fernando is a small, independent city within Los Angeles County with a population of around 24,000. Despite being surrounded by the City of Los Angeles, it operates its own municipal government. The community is predominantly Hispanic and has deep roots in the region going back to California mission era. All five public elementary schools in this group are part of the Los Angeles Unified School District and carry Title I Schoolwide status, reflecting the area high concentration of economically disadvantaged students.
