The elementary school system of Alpine, California, is reflective of the size and family-oriented nature of this community located in the foothills to the east of San Diego. The city has a population of approximately 15,000 people; therefore, it has a quiet, suburban/rural feel that would be ideal for a family. The elementary schools (primarily within the Alpine Union School District, but there are also some private options) are very supportive of their teachers and students, maintain small class sizes, and provide a solid academic base for their students. The schools place great value on parent involvement and extracurricular activities as part of the development of their students.
