Horizon Elementary School

Horizon Elementary School is known for being one of the best Elementary Schools in Alabama, where high student achievement and developing future leaders go hand-in-hand. With enrollment around 550 students in grades PK-5, and around 70% proficiency in math and over 80% in reading, Horizon continues to enjoy significant academic success. Horizon is also recognized as a "Leader in Me," a program that helps kids develop character, responsibility, and student leadership skills. Horizon became the first Elementary School in Madison to receive "Lighthouse" status as part of this program. Horizon has a student-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, making it a wonderful environment for many different types of learners, including a minority student population of 43%.
