HCF

HCF stands for “Highest Common Factor.” The Highest Common Factor of two numbers is the highest number among all the common factors of the given numbers.

Here’s a short story to help you understand more about HCF.

In a faraway kingdom, two friends, Jack and Ben, loved collecting magical crystals. Each had a unique collection of crystals, but they wondered if there were any crystals they both had.

They met an old wise sorcerer who told them about the magic of HCF, the Highest Common Factor. HCF was the biggest number that could divide both of their crystal collections perfectly.

Jack had 12 crystals, and Ben had 18 crystals. The sorcerer helped them find the HCF of 12 and 18, which was 6. This meant that they both had 6 crystals in common.

LEARN MORE ABOUT HCF

With the power of HCF, Jack and Ben discovered the crystals they shared, making their friendship even stronger.

Simply put, HCF, or the Highest Common Factor, is a mathematical concept that helps us find the largest

number that can divide two or more given numbers evenly. It is also known as the greatest common

divisor (GCD).

Let’s take two numbers, 12 and 18, as an example. To find their HCF,

we need to list their factors and identify the largest number that appears in both lists.

The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12. The factors of 18 are 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, and 18. From these lists, we see that the largest number that is common to both 12 and 18 is 6. So, the HCF of 12 and 18 is 6.
