Area

Area is the amount of space that a flat shape takes up. It is measured in square units, such as square inches, square feet, and square meters.

This quiz will test your knowledge of area, including:

  • Finding the area of rectangles, squares, triangles, and parallelograms
  • Using formulas to find the area of shapes
  • Calculating the area of composite shapes

Ready to get started? But before that let’s read a fun story.

Once upon a time, there was a young sixth-grader named Lily who was learning about the area in math class. Lily was a bright student, but she was struggling to understand the concept.

One day, after school, Lily was sitting in her room trying to do her math homework when she fell asleep. When she woke up, she found herself in a strange land.

Lily was surrounded by shapes of all sizes and colors. The shapes were talking and laughing, and they seemed to be very happy.

“Hello,” said Lily. “Where am I?”

“You are in the Area Kingdom,” said a large rectangle with a friendly smile. “I am King Area. What brings you to my kingdom?”

“I’m here to learn about the area,” said Lily. “But I’m having a hard time understanding it.”

“Don’t worry,” said King Area. “I can help you. Just follow me.”

LEARN MORE ABOUT Area

King Area led Lily on a tour of the Area Kingdom. He showed Lily the Rectangle Palace, the Square Castle, the Triangle Tower, and the Parallelogram Forest.

As they toured the kingdom, King Area explained to Lily how the area works. He explained that area is the amount of space that a flat shape takes up. He also explained how to use formulas to find the area of different shapes.

Lily listened carefully to King Area’s explanations. She began to understand the concept of area much better.

“Thank you for helping me, King Area,” said Lily. “I now understand the area much better.”

“You’re welcome,” said King Area. “Now go forth and share your knowledge with the world!”

Lily woke up from her dream and rushed to her homework. She was now able to complete her math homework with ease. She also helped her classmates to understand the area.

Lily was grateful to King Area for teaching her about the area. She knew that this important math concept

would help her to succeed in math class and in life.
