Area

Area is the measurement of the space taken up by a two-dimensional shape. It is measured in square units, such as square inches, square centimeters, or square feet.

In this math quiz, you will be tested on your knowledge of area, including:

What is the area?

How do we calculate the area of different shapes, such as rectangles, squares, triangles, and circles?

How do we solve problems involving area?

Moonpreneur’s math quiz will test your understanding of Area concepts at a Grade 4 level. But before that let’s read a fun story.

Once upon a time, there was a grade 4 class that was learning about the area. One day, the teacher gave them a quiz on the topic. One of the questions was:

What is the area of a rectangular pizza that is 12 inches long and 8 inches wide?

The students all started working on the problem. Some of them used the formula for the area of a rectangle, which is length times width. Others used a visual representation of the problem, such as drawing a picture of the pizza and dividing it into smaller squares.

One student, named Sarah, decided to use a visual representation to solve the problem.

LEARN MORE ABOUT Area

Sarah drew a picture of the pizza and divided it into 12 rows of 8 squares. She then counted the total number of squares, which was 96.

She knew that each square represented one square inch, so the total area of the pizza was 96 square inches. She wrote down her answer on the quiz and turned it in.

At the end of the day, the teacher handed back the quizzes. Sarah was happy to see that she had gotten the answer right! She had learned that area is an important math concept that can be used to solve real-world problems.
