The educational system at the high school level in the state of Nebraska is always among the top-ranked in the country, with 13th in the country for performance, safety, and funding. Nebraska has about 268 high schools for approximately 103,000 total students. The graduation rate of Nebraska is nearly 90%, with a good level of core curriculum requirements. The best high schools in Nebraska are very successful at preparing students to achieve high ACT scores. Also, the AP test scores increased by 22.6% in 2025. Schools that have recognition from the national level, such as Distinguished Schools and Literacy and Workforce initiatives, have high-achieving, academically challenging programs and have a supportive teaching staff (both stable and adequately compensated).
