Salisbury, Maryland, is a lively regional hub at the head of the Wicomico River. It is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore and has about 34,000 residents. Wicomico County Public Schools runs the public school system, which has about 21 elementary schools that serve more than 11,000 students. The system values diversity, with almost two-thirds of the students coming from minority backgrounds. The community is close-knit and has a lot of great private schools, which makes it highly rated. There are also a lot of extracurricular activities, like arts, sports, and outdoor experiential learning. Salisbury is a "Main Street Maryland" community with a downtown that is being remade with easy access to parks, the riverfront, and the coast.
