Albany, Georgia, is a busy city in the southwest part of the state with over 70,000 people living there. There are 16 elementary schools in the Dougherty County School System, and they serve over 10,000 kids in the city. Northside Elementary and other schools like it put a lot of stress on social skills, arithmetic, reading, and technology. There is a 13:1 student-to-teacher ratio, and around 90% of the students are African American. Albany puts a lot of pressure on parents to get active in cultural events, extracurricular activities, and environmental projects.
