Fairmont is home to about 18,000 people and is known as the "birthplace of the pepperoni roll." Some of them have been around for a long time, while others are new. One of the best things about its school system is that it has a public high school that is always in the top 10 in West Virginia. Schools in the area do a great job with academics and Advanced Placement (AP) classes, and they often get the best scores for being ready for college. Families will love living in the city because it is cheap, the people are friendly, and there are colleges and universities nearby, like Fairmont State University.
