Latest News

Burgess Elementary recently opened a new sensory room to give students a calm space during the school day. The room was developed after a teacher identified a need for a dedicated area where students can step aside, use tools and activities to settle their thoughts, and return to class more focused. Work on the space took about two years with support from school staff and families, and it is meant to benefit students with a range of sensory and emotional needs. School leaders say the new room will be used throughout the day to help with student learning and behavior.
