La Vega Elementary School recently celebrated being named a "Top Performing School" for helping students in Central Texas improve their reading and math skills. The campus is getting ready for its yearly "Pirate Pride" community festival, which features student art and music. The school also recently got a grant to buy new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) lab equipment to help students learn by doing.
Q1. Does La Vega El have a special program for strings or orchestras?
Ans. As part of their electives, fifth and sixth graders can join the beginner strings program.
Q2. What are the rules for homework for students at La Vega El?
Ans. Every night, students have homework to do that takes about thirty to forty-five minutes to finish.
Q3. Does La Vega El take part in any UIL academic competitions in the area?
Ans. At the district level, students can compete in different UIL events, such as number sense, oral reading, and creative writing.
Q4. What does La Vega El do to keep students safe when they leave school?
Ans. There is a numbered tag system for car riders to make sure that only family members who are allowed to pick up students are allowed to do so.
Q5. Does La Vega El have any enrichment blocks that focus on STEM?
Ans. To help students learn how to think critically, the school includes weekly hands-on science and engineering projects in the curriculum.
