Through its elite partnership with Baylor University, Hillcrest Professional Development School (PDS) Magnet remains the best place for future teachers to get their training. The school recently celebrated a big rise in student reading scores. This is because it has a special co-teaching model that puts Baylor interns in every classroom. The campus also recently held a "Discovery Night" to show off science and history projects made by students to families who might want to send their kids to the school.
Q1. What sets Hillcrest Pds Magnet apart from a regular elementary school?
Ans. This campus is a Professional Development School that works with Baylor University to train teachers in new ways.
Q2. Does Hillcrest Pds Magnet have a special rotation for fine arts?
Ans. Students take turns going to music, visual arts, and theater classes to find out what kinds of art they like and what kinds of creative things they can do.
Q3. How does Hillcrest Pds Magnet keep students safe when they arrive and leave?
Ans. The school has a safe badge-scanning system and organized carpool lanes to make sure everyone gets to school safely every day.
Q4. Does Hillcrest Pds Magnet have a pull-out program for gifted and talented (GT) students?
Ans. Students who have been chosen work with experts on advanced research projects that are meant to push their creative and critical thinking skills.
Q5. Are there any special science programs at Hillcrest Pds Magnet?
Ans. The school uses inquiry-based science experiments in every grade to get kids interested and help them learn how to discover things on their own.
