Being Updated
Red Lick Elementary continues to hold its #198 Texas ranking into 2025-26. Red Lick ISD's teachers average nearly 15 years of experience, and the district was ranked #56 among all 1,196 Texas school districts for combined math and reading proficiency — placing it in the top 5% statewide. The campus serves one of the most academically consistent student communities in the Texarkana area, and Red Lick's GATE program continues to serve qualifying students through the district's GT identification process.
Q1. Does Red Lick Elementary have a GATE program?
Ans. Red Lick Elementary does offer a Gifted and Talented program through Red Lick ISD. Given the school's strong academic profile, ranked in the top 5% of Texas elementary schools, the GATE program draws on a student body where 67% already meet or exceed grade-level math standards.
Q2. Why does Red Lick Elementary only go through fourth grade?
Ans. Red Lick Elementary covers kindergarten through fourth grade, with students then moving to Red Lick Middle for grades 5 through 8. Red Lick ISD's two-campus model lets each school specialize by grade band.
Q3. What makes Red Lick ISD different from Texarkana ISD?
Ans. Red Lick ISD is a small, separate rural district serving the farming communities northeast of Texarkana. It operates just two campuses, Red Lick Elementary and Red Lick Middle, with a combined enrollment of about 519 students.
Q4. How does Red Lick Elementary engage families?
Ans. Red Lick Elementary is the kind of small campus where the principal and teachers know students and families by name. Teacher turnover is low. Red Lick ISD's teachers average nearly 15 years of experience, which creates a stable, relationship-driven environment.
Q5. What bilingual or ELL programs does Red Lick Elementary offer?
Ans. Red Lick Elementary serves a student body that is 87% White with a minimal English Language Learner population. Bilingual programming is available for qualifying students, consistent with Red Lick ISD's obligations under Texas education law.
