Highland Park Elementary's principal Audrey Shumate and the school community joined the celebration when Texarkana ISD opened its new Career Technical Education Innovation Center in March 2026 a district-wide milestone that expands STEM and vocational pathways for students who will eventually move from campuses like Highland Park into TISD's secondary programs. The school's bilingual and ELD staff continue working through TISD's district-wide professional development programming, and the campus participates in TISD's family engagement calendar each semester. TISD's board highlighted student success across district campuses at its April 2026 regular meeting, a recognition that applies district-wide including to Highland Park's teaching staff.
