One recent highlight at El Magnet, located at Milam Elementary, has been the emphasis on school identity and student engagement. In August 2025, the school launched its first-ever official mascot, the Meerkat, in a bid to foster school pride and student and staff affiliation. This is a larger push towards a cohesive and positive school culture. Along with this, the school is continuing to market its fine arts magnet programs at the district choice events, generating interest in the school from the Odessa community.
