Being Updated
Walker Creek Elementary was one of the 13 Birdville ISD campuses recognized at the 2025 Board of Trustees meeting for earning a place on the state school rankings. With a #528 Texas statewide ranking and a 29% economically disadvantaged rate, Walker Creek produces results that put it in strong company among the district's top performers. The school is also part of BISD's 2025 bond election cycle, which focuses on security and learning space upgrades across elementary campuses. Walker Creek's 29-teacher team and the district's free Varsity Tutor online tutoring resource continue to run through the 2025-26 year, giving families additional academic support beyond the school day.
Q1. What makes Walker Creek Elementary stand out in Birdville ISD?
Ans. Walker Creek Elementary ranks #528 in Texas one of the top 15% of all elementary schools statewide — and it does this while serving a student community where 29% are economically disadvantaged. That combination is genuinely unusual. Most schools with low disadvantage rates post better numbers because of demographics, but Walker Creek's staff-to-student stability and experienced faculty are real factors in the result.
Q2. Does Walker Creek Elementary have a GATE program?
Ans. Walker Creek Elementary runs a Gifted and Talented program through Birdville ISD. Eligible fourth graders are also nominated for the district's Lone Star Leadership Academy each year. If your child hasn't been brought up in a GATE conversation yet, a direct talk with their teacher is the fastest way to get the referral ball rolling in the fall.
Q3. What extracurricular programs does Walker Creek Elementary offer?
Ans. Walker Creek Elementary students have access to music, physical education, and art as part of the standard BISD elementary curriculum. The school participates in district-wide STEM enrichment events across the school year. Families should check the campus website at walkcreekelementary.birdvilleschools.net or call (817) 547-3500 for the most current list of student activities.
Q4. How does Walker Creek Elementary support diverse student backgrounds?
Ans. Walker Creek Elementary has one of the more diverse student profiles among BISD's North Richland Hills campuses, with a student body that includes multiple ethnic and racial backgrounds. The school runs English Language Development support as part of daily instruction for qualifying students, and its family engagement programming runs throughout the year through Birdville ISD's district-wide calendar.
Q5. What school do Walker Creek Elementary students attend after 5th grade?
Ans. Walker Creek Elementary feeds into North Ridge Middle School, located a short distance away on Douglas Lane. Students then continue to Richland High School. The compact geographic footprint of this feeder pattern means most Walker Creek families stay in the same community through the middle school years before moving on to the same high school together.
