Being Updated
The spring started off great for Ed White Elementary, with record-breaking attendance at its most recent "Reading Night" and student-led book fair. People are talking a lot about the school because it focuses on 21st-century skills, especially how it teaches math and science every day by using digital literacy. The district also recently praised the campus for being caring and having dedicated teacher-mentor programs.
Q1. How does Ed White El's "Reading Night" help parents and staff get to know each other better?
Ans. These events give families a chance to read together in a fun, laid-back setting and get advice from teachers on how to help their kids read better.
Q2. Does Ed White El have any special programs for students who are very interested in digital science and technology?
Ans. Our "Future Scientists" lab lets students use new digital literacy tools to solve real-world math and science problems.
Q3. What kinds of "Teacher-Mentor" programs are currently being used at Ed White El to help students do better in school?
Ans. We match students with dedicated staff mentors who meet with them on campus once a week to give them extra support and help with their studies.
Q4. How does Ed White El teach kids 21st-century skills like critical thinking in their daily science classes?
Ans. Teachers use "Inquiry Challenges" in class, where students have to work in groups to come up with and test their own scientific ideas.
Q5. Are there any student awards at Ed White El that honor "Innovation" or "Creative Problem Solving"?
Ans. We give out the "Innovator's Award" every three months to students who come up with new ways to help their classmates or make the school better.
