Being Updated
Wharton K-8 Dual Language Academy is still one of the best places to learn two languages, and it does a great job of preparing students for a future that is connected to the rest of the world. Recently, the academy held a "International Marketplace" where students showed off their research on different cultures and their ability to speak more than one language. People are also praising the school for how involved parents are and how well it connects with the community.
Q1. What are the long-term benefits of being a part of a K-8 academy at Wharton Dual Language for students' language development?
Ans. Students can become truly biliterate and gain a deep understanding of other cultures by staying on one campus for nine years and taking the same classes all the time.
Q2. Does Wharton Dual Language have any special programs for students who want to learn more about global issues or international relations?
Ans. The "International Marketplace" project lets students learn about economies around the world and share what they learn with the community in both English and Spanish.
Q3. What kind of help does Wharton Dual Language give to families who don't speak their child's second language well?
Ans. We have workshops for parents called "Language Bridge" that give them tools to help with homework and get involved in school life.
Q4. How does Wharton Dual Language honor the many different cultural backgrounds of its very active parent community?
Ans. We have "Cultural Showcases" where families share their food, music, and traditions. This makes our school a lively place where people from all over the world can meet.
Q5. Are there any student-run clubs at Wharton Dual Language that focus on bilingual poetry or creative writing?
Ans. Our "Dual-Voice Poets" club lets students write and perform their own poems in both languages, which is a way for them to celebrate their unique bilingual identity.
