Westwood Elementary is proud to be a part of the district-wide "Character Without Question" awards, which honor students who are honest and great leaders. The school also recently named Jennie Dao Teacher of the Year for 2025 because she teaches in a way that is both unique and effective. The campus is also getting ready for the spring term of 2026 by adding more fine arts programs to the district's upcoming performing arts calendar.
Q1. How does the "Character Without Question" program at Westwood El help make the school a better place to be every day?
Ans. This program teaches students that true leadership means doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
Q2. Are there any special clubs at Westwood El for students who want to work in technical fields or the military in the future?
Ans. Every year, we hold hands-on workshops and guest speaker events as part of our "T-2-4 Pathways" program to help students learn about different career paths.
Q3. What kind of "Instructional Innovation" did the Westwood El Teacher of the Year get an award for recently?
Ans. Jennie Dao was honored for using "Gamified Learning" to make difficult math lessons into fun quests for her students.
Q4. What are Westwood El's plans for the next academic spring term to add more fine arts classes?
Ans.This year, we are adding new choral and theater groups that will be listed in the district's official performing arts calendar.
Q5. Are there any special safety rules at Westwood El for students who walk home to the nearby Spring Branch area?
Ans. We have a "Walking School Bus" where staff members walk students to safe places so they can get home safely.
