Being Updated
Valley West Elementary went from a F to an A rating in just one year. District leaders said this showed how smart the students are. To keep up this great academic progress, Nichaelia Tucker was hired as the new principal of the school for the 2025–2026 school year. The campus also celebrated the successful launch of expanded transportation services, which will make it easier for more students to get to their A-rated schools.
Q1. How did Valley West El make such a big change in its academics in just one school year?
Ans. Our staff used "Power Hours" based on data to give specific help, which helped our students go from a F to an A.
Q2. Does Valley West El offer any special help to new families so they can understand the campus "Promise"?
Ans. Our new principal holds "Welcome Circles" to tell families about our high standards and how we work with them to help their kids do well in school.
Q3. What kinds of improvements have been made to transportation at Valley West El for this school year?
Ans. We have added more bus routes and made the car-rider line better so that every student can get to and from school safely.
Q4. How does Valley West El celebrate students coming to school and keep them excited about it?
Ans. Students who come to school a lot get "A-Team" certificates and special campus parties to celebrate their commitment to learning.
Q5. Are there any quiet areas at Valley West El for students who need a break from social and emotional learning?
Ans. There is a "Calm Down Kit" and a place in every classroom where students can practice mindfulness and get their focus back.
