Being Updated
Thornwood Elementary School is honoring its most recent "Campus Teacher of the Year" for going above and beyond to help every student learn in their own way. Not too long ago, the school held a "T-2-4 Planning Night" to tell families about the district's long-term plans to help students do well after high school. There is also a new "Eco-Friendly Club" on campus that is run by students. The club works on projects to protect the environment in the area.
Q1. How does Thornwood El show appreciation for and celebrate its teachers for their hard work and dedication to teaching?
Ans. Every year, we have a "Teacher of the Year" party where everyone in the community honors teachers for the positive impact they have on their students.
Q2. What is a "T-2-4 Planning Night" at Thornwood El, and why is it important for families in the area?
Ans. Parents learn how we get students ready for technical jobs, military service, or a four-year college during these sessions.
Q3. Does Thornwood El have a club for students that focuses on gardening or protecting the environment in the area?
Ans. The "Eco-Friendly Club," which is run by students, teaches students how to care for nature by doing recycling and beautification projects on campus.
Q4. How does having fewer students at Thornwood El make learning more personal?
Ans. Teachers can spend more time with each student, making sure that each child's academic and social needs are met every day.
Q5. Do any of Thornwood El's yearly festivals bring people from West Houston to the school?
Ans. Our "Spring Carnival" is a fun neighborhood event that raises money for school projects while also having games and other activities.
