Recently, Thompson Elementary School (Spring ISD) had a successful "Career Expo" where professionals from the area talked to students about their jobs. The new "Peer Mediators" program on campus is working well. It helps students work out their differences and makes the school a better place to be. The school also just got a grant to make its digital literacy resources better for students of all ages.
Q1. How does the "Career Expo" at Thompson El (Spring ISD) help students think about what jobs they want to do in the future?
Ans. Professionals from the area come to our campus to talk about their jobs, which helps students see how useful their studies are in the real world.
Q2. What is Thompson El's (Spring ISD) "Peer Mediators" program, and how does it help students?
Ans. Students who have been trained help their classmates settle small disagreements in a peaceful way, which makes the school culture much more positive and respectful every day.
Q3. Does Thompson El (Spring ISD) have any special programs to help students learn how to use technology?
Ans. We recently got a grant to buy new tablets and software that help students learn how to code and do research.
Q4. What does Thompson El (Spring ISD) do to help its elementary school students grow socially and emotionally?
Ans. Our counselor teaches regular lessons in the classroom on how to be strong and kind leaders by building resilience and empathy.
Q5. Are there any clubs or volunteer groups run by parents that help the Thompson El (Spring ISD) library?
Ans. Our "Library Friends" group helps set up book fairs and guest reading days to encourage people to read for the rest of their lives.
