Being Updated
STEP Charter Elementary is still dedicated to personalized learning. Recently, they made a point of how important it is for each student to get one-on-one attention and be in a small class. The school has seen that more people are getting involved in the community since they held a number of successful open house events in the neighborhood. Students are also doing new STEM-based enrichment modules that are supposed to help them think critically and solve problems.
Q1. Are there any special after-school programs at Step Charter El that focus on creative digital media?
Ans. Our "Digital Creators" club teaches students the basics of graphic design and video editing so they can learn how to be creative in the modern world.
Q2. What is different about the personalized instructional model at Step Charter El compared to a regular public school classroom?
Ans. We keep class sizes small so that teachers can customize each lesson to fit the needs of each student.
Q3. Do students at Step Charter El have to wear certain clothes all year long?
Ans. Every day, students wear a standard campus polo and designated bottoms to help everyone feel like they are part of the same group and stay focused on their work.
Q4. Are there any parent-led workshops at Step Charter El that teach parents how to help their kids' mental health and social well-being?
Ans. Every month, our counselor holds "Family Wellness" sessions to talk about ways to improve communication and resilience at home.
Q5. How do students at Step Charter El get to help with community-wide volunteer projects?
Ans. Students run seasonal food and clothing drives, which helps them connect with the Houston community in a strong way.
