Being Updated
The strict NES teaching model has helped Southside Elementary give students who are doing well faster ways to learn. The school just started a new "STEAM Club" after school, and it's already the most popular activity outside of class for the spring semester of 2026.
Q1. Does Southside El have any martial arts or other specialized fitness classes as part of its curriculum?
Ans. Our NES model lets students take part in martial arts dyads that teach them discipline, focus, and physical strength.
Q2. How does Southside El make sure that every student has a say in decisions that affect the whole campus?
Ans. The principal meets with our "Student Council" once a month to talk about ways to make the school better and plan spirit weeks.
Q3. Do students at Southside El who use district-issued laptops learn specific lessons about digital safety?
Ans. Yes, students go to "Cyber-Safe" workshops where they learn about privacy, online bullying, and how to use social media responsibly.
Q4. Does Southside El offer any workshops for parents on how to meet the social and emotional needs of preteens?
Ans. Our counselor runs "Coffee and Conversation" sessions to talk about common developmental milestones and help families in the area.
Q5. What kinds of summer programs are available for Southside El students to keep them from losing what they learned over the summer?
Ans. The district has a "Summer Spark" academy where kids can learn science, math, and the performing arts through fun, hands-on projects.
